“Someone like eBay” to partner with MySpace?

MySpace founder Chris de Wolfe has talked about a partnership with “someone like eBay” for the social networking site. In an interview with The Telegraph, he talked about offering MySpace users the ability to sell goods, and how a commerce partner would be needed to facilitate the sales: “We haven’t decided yet but it would be probably a good bet that someone like eBay could be a good partner.” However, it’s likely to be several months before such a service is implemented.
De Wolfe sold MySpace to Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation in 2005, for US$580m.

Some random thoughts:
MySpace is ‘valued’ at $12bn in the negotiations with Yahoo: http://www.techcrunch.com/2007.....2-billion/
Myspace is still growing. Facebook may be more talked but Myspace isn’t dead: http://www.techcrunch.com/2007.....aggerated/
Could be great source of traffic in a post-google ads world.
Photobucket… biggest third party host of images on eBay was bought, as reported by Tamebay, by Myspace recently.

More gossip, and it really is tittle-tattle, on Yahoo/Myspace.
Re. the FT link, I don’t think you need to see anything significant in people’s desire to avoid a James Blunt gig
