The CWU has asked Royal Mail management for fresh talks in an attempt to stave off a postal strike. The union, whose members have rejected RM’s 2.5% pay offer, is expected to set dates later this week for a series of one-day stoppages.
As well as an improved pay offer, the union has said they want “a deal on modernisation which has the acceptance of workers” and an end to the “current cost-cutting frenzy”. A Royal Mail spokesperson has said they are willing to meet with workers’ representatives.
