The CWU have announced another day’s strike for Friday 13th July. Union Deputy General Secretary has said, however, that this action can be avoided if Royal Mail management agree to return to the negotiating table prepared to discuss pay and pension issues, and how workers and management can work together to modernise, improve efficiency and deal with the challenges of competition.

RM and the CWU have made wildly differing claims about the success of the last 24 hour stoppage: management claim that up to 60% of employees were working, while the union claims that 95% came out on strike.
