Hot dates for eBay Live

This post was written in January 2008; specific information contained within it may be out of date.

eBay LiveeBay have announced the dates for booking eBay Live in Chicago, which takes place between Thursday June 19th and Saturday June 21st:

  • Early Bird Registration: $75.00 March 14 - April 30
  • Final Discounted Registration: $100.00 May 1 - May 31
  • Standard Registration: $120.00 June 1 - June 21

Priority pass tickets will be $150: there are only 750 of these available. Tickets for Saturday only are $75.

Registration opens very late this year: in 2007 it was open February 5th, and in 2006, on February 24th. eBay themselves had originally advertised Chicago registration as opening in February. With delegates in Boston reportedly only half the number there were in Vegas, perhaps they’re hoping to have an extra month to drum up enthusiasm? Or are we getting news of fee changes out of the way before we start registration?

I fancy going to this, but my wife doesn’t like flying  I mean really doesn’t like flying, so I would have to go on my Jack Jones! Is anybody else thinking of going, it might be a bit more enjoyable if there are some other people I know, even if it is in a cyber way (but not that kind of cyber way  ) ooer you cant say anything can you!

Chris and I are going, Jade: you are welcome to come with us.

Alternatively, your wife could go on the boat - if she leaves now, she may be there in time for June

LOL that would be funny apart from the fact that she doesn’t like boats either, no I’m not joking! We like to drive to Bruge in Belgium a LOT, she can just about cope with the tunnel

But thats a nice offer  , I think I’ll take you up on that, I better make sure I can afford it though before I get too carried away.

Good news is Jade it doesn’t actually cost that much :-) Once flights are paid the States is dirt cheap :-)

Yay for the $2=£1 exchange rate! Remember that guy we shared a cab with in Boston, Chris - it was about $10 and he was getting all het up about giving us his share, and we were like, honestly, where we come from, it’s nothing

I’ve been to States once, and even though it wasn’t the crazy exchange rate that we have now, it was still comparatively cheap. I remember all you can eat buffets in the themed hotels on the “strip” in Las Vegas $6.95 and the food was amazing! The waitress had Soda (coke etc) refills in pumps on their back, looked a bit like them flame throwers on WWII films only like I say it was sugary coke, they just kept filling your glass every time you took a sip!

I remember the cabs in Boston…. I also remember our little ruse for jumping the enormously long queue to get one back to the hotel… walk down the road 50 yards and flag one down that’s on his way in…. must remember that little trick in Chicago

Yeah it was funny watching all the dimwits queuing outside the expo centre in the wind while we walked a little bit down the bridge and hopped into the first taxi we spotted.

We really need a UK focused Ebay show though.

Looking forward to a fun time in Chicago this year. Last year in Boston, our hotel reservations were messed up so we ended up staying all the way out by Boston College. Had a good time at all the pubs out that way, so I can’t complain. Looking forward to some YUMMY Chicago dogs and pizza in June. Anyone care to join me? LOL

Any more news on a tamebay posse going to Chic a go?

I’m really excited now cause my wife who has only flown three times in her life has decided that she wants to conquer her fear of flying by coming with us to ebay live :-)
