Shakira sells on eBay for Charity

by Chris Dawson

This post was written in February 2008; specific information contained within it may be out of date.

“An unforgettable evening” is how an evening with singer Shakira is described. The winner of an eBay auction will be a special dinner guest at a private performance by Shakira to be held in Toronto, Canada on March 1st, 2008.

So far the auction has attracted 111 bids and topped $13,000, but if that’s outside your price range you can also bid on some of Shakira’s stage worn clothing also being sold to raise money for charity.

The Colombian pop superstar is auctioning the items on eBay to benefit her Pies Descalzos foundation which she founded at the age of just eighteen. The Pies Descalzos foundation contributes to development of school-age children in high-risk, vulnerable communities displaced by the violence in Colombia.

The auctions are also featured on eBay’s Shop Victoriously site. I do like the Shop Victoriously site even though sadly it’s just about the slowest to load site on the Internet.

Blimey she has her image/brand to uphold and she doesn’t mind her stuff being sold on ebay?

What is the world coming to? ;-)

Hey Lynne, just imagine the traffic she’s getting out of it - can only enhance her brand

This brand you speak of. It’s the woman who sang
Lucky my breasts are small and humble
so you don’t confuse them with mountains

Any brand-dodginess was there looooong before her auctions
