“We’re kind of capitalizing on the stupidity of eBay”

Virgin Mary pretzelA pretzel allegedly shaped like the Virgin Mary is for sale on eBay. As of now, there are 85 bids on the original listing and the price is up to more than $2 million. There are also 16 other auctions with “Virgin Mary pretzel” in the title, with items for sale including copycat pretzels, domain names, email addresses; I’m rather partial to the Holy Family halo pretzel set.

The original listing’s seller said “We’re kind of capitalizing on the stupidity of eBay, and that people will buy anything. But it is authentic… straight from the heavens and right on eBay.” I can’t help thinking this ‘thing shaped like another thing’ thing might have run its course.

    It’s been pulled.

Trust & Safety, or Divine Intervention?

Or Pest Control, seeing as the pretzel was two years old?

I can get a new one from my pretzel store (we love hot pretzels in Philly) but I have to wait til he has time to mix a new batch of dough. We could flood the market - bring the price down to pennies….like everything else on ebay.

Auction was reported and cancelled, as were thousands of other auctions that violate policy. I am tired of these auctions that are silly, or violate policy. I am going after any auction that violates ebay policy, or the law.
