This post was written in March 2008; specific information contained within it may be out of date.

eBay have just announced that for the month of March they’ll reward sellers with double the normal discount from their final fees. If you’re DSR’s are higher than 4.6 across all four stars at the end of March you’ll get an extra 20-40% discount.

The offer is open to all business sellers who currently qualifiy for discounts and will be reflected in your May Invoice.

    if ebay keep this up

It’s a pretty clear message that eBay mean business when it comes to these DSRs.

And it’s about improving the buyer experience. Simple as.

I think it’s a pretty clever bit of work.

add that to the free gallery and it should make a huge difference on the month.,

Think I’ll invest in some more Easter eggs with the money I’ll save…

Can I still assume I am eligible considering I list on .com?

My Account Manager said I would, but that was a few weeks ago and things often change in Ebay land :-)

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Oops…

Hi Mark, sadly the announcement states the items must be listed on .co.uk or .ie to qualify for the bonus discounts.

  9. Mark Classic on March 20th, 2008 6:25 pm

I just noticed that Chris :-)

Shame, but there you go, my business is in the States, so have to list there.

I was informed though that it would not be based on my location, so will have to clarify that.

“I was informed though that it would not be based on my location” :?: :?: :?:

There was a thread on the PS forum (I can’t check at present  ) where a Pink confirmed that PS discounts are applicable only for listings in the country where your account is registered. If you know any different I’d be delighted.

eBay’s success is bound to your success. It can sound a little trite but credit to the UK management for standing by that statement of intent.

My my, how the days have changed. Fantastic news I say!

  13. Biggles on March 20th, 2008 7:52 pm

Jamie, eBay have been overmilking the cow for far too long.

  14. Louise on March 20th, 2008 8:32 pm

    Hubba hubba Jamie!

    (sorry  )

    Ahem (pulls oneself together).

    Great news from ebay!

    (scurries away)

    Wow, double discount.

    That means 2 x £0.00

    Where’s the catch?

April 1st Invoices, and there my friends is your answer, it’s an April fools joke, eBay double discounting fees indeed, had you lot fooled.

  19. northumbrian on March 20th, 2008 11:01 pm

Dsrs make no difference to how we run things so its free money

  20. Kate and Jen on March 20th, 2008 11:03 pm

Whirly, if we call you Jamie, will a good looking man suddenly appear??

  21. Biggles on March 20th, 2008 11:46 pm

    Higher than 4.6. :???:

    So, 4.7 or higher?

I feel like laying on the floor and being hit with a nail.

  22. Chris Dawson on March 21st, 2008 12:04 am

4.61 would do… it’s just that 100ths aren’t available to sellers but they are to eBay for giving discounts :-)

  23. Josordoni on March 21st, 2008 10:17 am

I wonder if we will see our 100ths when the legendary DSR console finally gets here (sigh) if it ever does….

  24. whirly on March 21st, 2008 10:55 am

Whirly, if we call you Jamie, will a good looking man suddenly appear??

Yes, just a lot taller

  25. Biggles on March 21st, 2008 7:23 pm

ah ok… I didnt think about 100’s, and knowing eBay, there are probably 1/1000’s or 1/10,000’s of units now.

  26. justin time (to offer a thought). on March 24th, 2008 3:43 pm

    hi -

discounts - great - thank you.

so, lets hope ebay are fair and even handed when acting as judge and jury in cases where a seller requests neg’ fb/dsr are withdrawn for good reason.

eg - the neg fb was used as a weapon/tool to extort, make unfair demands outside the law, terms and conditions etc…

why? left published, it contributes to a sellers eligibility rating for discounts - the bigger the discount, the bigger the conflict of interest, when an ebay judgement costs a seller the discount (and ebay goes on to profit).

more discounts? yes, please and thank you.

a fair, well conceived system? yes please - and we’ll say thank you when it happens (honest).

    fingers crossed,

    justin time.

    Hi
Just got of the phone with powerseller support
I have been charged gallery fees for any mutliple relists,

So using Turbolister or relisting in bulk from SYI form is not included in the free gallery promotion

Speaking to PS support she told me that it is for individual items, and she said she wasnt even aware of it being on the terms and conditions,

So if you relist 100’s or even 10’s of items in one go,
You arent going to get the discount

Seems a tad unfair to me
    Suz x

  28. Josordoni on March 25th, 2008 4:59 pm

    Hi Suz,

just checked my current balance as I use Turbolister for my listings. I haven’t been charged anything since 18th March when the promo came into force, except for SIL which aren’t included in the promotion. TL fee calculator shows the fee being charged, but it is showing as a promotional fee on the balance.

    I got worried for a moment…..

  29. Josordoni on March 25th, 2008 5:12 pm

p.s. Suz, are you listing multiple auctions (Dutch auctions) ? Because these are specifically excluded from the gallery promotion, only single auction items are included.

  30. Suz on March 25th, 2008 5:27 pm

    Hiya

    Cheers for answering
Nopsie - single auction items. I do not use lots or anything else - Will have another looksie

But when relisting in bulk on SMP (as TL wasnt working) I got charged gallery on the multiples but not on the singles

Off to look at invoice - why oh why is it always so complicated?
