JupiterResearch survey available for download

The survey carried out by JupiterResearch for ChannelAdvisor is now available for download. 98% of online sellers market their products through at least two online channels - With eBay accounting for about 25% of the online market and growing slower than the online market diversifying is essential.

The report looks in detail at the benefits and the challenges of multi-channel selling, where to start, when to outsource and how to measure your revenue potential across channels. As the data was drawn from businesses currently trading across multiple online channels it gives a real picture of why multi-channel expansion is important to your long-term business growth.

    we cant all be tesco or walmart
    and have an outlet on every high st

    multi channeling may just mean spreading yourself too thin
    to notice whats under your nose

    Hey North - if you’ve ever sold an item off-eBay then you already *are* multi-channel :P

    Sure do Lynne, a boot fair ain’t eBay and therefore it’s multichannel :lol:

    However in fairness the article was referring to multiple *online* channels, but again if you’ve got your own website, done some email marketing, or even have a blog aimed at generating sales then you’re already have multiple online channels :-)

    why dilute yourself just to tick the boxes, when you can sell all you can cope with from one place,

    rput another way ebay may have only 25% of the overall online market

    I dare bet its nearer 90% or more in my business.
    it would be pointless me running around trying to get a share of the other 10%

    I have to say North you’re the same as me, but then neither of us are typical eBay sellers. All those with repeatable stock should at least have their own website, be building an email marketing list and maybe consider adwords

    this is the one irritatation I have with ebay
    it seems to cater more for those with repeatable stock

    than those of us that grind out a few listings each day,

    its probably right for ebays business model

    but a little more help for those in the garden shed
    would be appreciated
