Paul McCartney signed Vox amplifier on eBay
June 9, 2008
Vox amps have been used by bands such as the Beatles for or over five decades, and now you can win one, on eBay - a Vox amp personally signed by Paul McCartney.
Vox describe the amp as “the finest guitar amp we’ve ever created” having added modern tone shaping control enhancements to make it the most tonally flexible AC15 to date.
The new hand-wired Vox AC15H1TV amplifier is on a ten day auction through eBay for Charity, with all proceeds to go to No More Landmines.
If you play in a band this, described as “a glorious chunk of rock history”, is the most unique amp you’re ever likely to own.

Win the UK’s best days out on eBay
May 19, 2008
If you’ve ever dreamed of driving a vintage car in the London-Brighton run, playing the organ in St. Paul’s or being a steam train driver for a day, then your dream could just come true this summer. Dozens of the UK’s top attractions are auctioning once-in-a-lifetime experiences on eBay to raise much-needed funding. The Top Lots initiative is a partnership between eBay, the Association for Independent Museums (AIM) and UK heritage fundraising specialists, Development Partners, working closely with VisitBritain and EnjoyEngland. Funds raised will go 80% to the attraction providing the lot, and 20% to the AIM
Other highlights include behind the scenes tours of the Tower of London and Durham Cathedral, driving a tank, taking tea in Agatha Christie’s house, a tour inside the stones at Stonehenge and attending Vivienne Westwood’s launch party. Personally I rather fancy the tour of Hampton Court Palace’s gardens in the company of their head gardener; maybe he could give me some advice on keeping rabbits off my lettuces.
Hutchence family criticised for eBay sales
May 19, 2008
The family of the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence have been criticised for selling his personal effects on eBay. Selling under the ID lilytigerlily - said to be a reference to Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily, Hutchence’s daughter with Paula Yates - the singer’s sister Tina Hutchence listed a page of handwritten lyrics, “written on an 8-inch by 12-inch page in Michael Hutchence’s scratchy handwriting, torn out of a notebook.” The auction started at $300, but was pulled by the seller.
Lilytigerlily later gave away her identity on the listing for a copy of Bob Geldof’s autobiography, Is That It?, bought, she said, “while I was researching my book Just a Man on my brother Michael Hutchence”. The book sold for 99c.
Last year, Hutchence’s brother Rhett defended his sale of items including a personal fax from Michael to Kylie Minogue, saying that he was trying to raise money to move to the Netherlands to be with his girlfriend.

Austrian village sells chapel on eBay
April 5, 2008
An Austrian village are selling their 18th century chapel on eBay. The sale includes the hand-blown glass windows, but not the bells or furniture, and the buyer will have to collect the chapel themselves. The sale is the idea of town chief Walter Leitgeb, as the chapel needed to be moved to make way for a wider road. Proceeds will go towards building a new chapel.
But the local priest said he knew nothing about the sale ; “I see it as a bad April Fool’s joke,” he told reporters.
Cornflake “shaped like Illinois” sold for $1350 on eBay
March 22, 2008
A cornflake shaped like the state of Illinois has been sold on eBay for $1350. The cornflake was bought by the owner of a trivia website; Monty Kerr from Trivia Mania says he is starting a collection of pop culture and Americana items.
The cornflake was sold by two sisters from Virginia. It had been listed once before but the auction was cancelled as it violated eBay’s food policies. This time, they sold a coupon which the lucky winner will be able to redeem for the actual cornflake.

Naturally the cornflake has caused a flurry of copy-cat listings, including a cornflake shaped like Ohio and a cornflake shaped like both Illinois and Ben Franklin.
Man sells “evil” Dr Who collection on eBay
March 21, 2008
A Trowbridge man is to sell his Dr Who collection on eBay, calling it the “greatest lie that Satan ever told”, reports the Wiltshire Times. The 47 year old has been building and collecting Dr Who memorabilia since he was young; he currently has a full-size TARDIS, two Cybermen, a Dalek and a model of K9. He told reporters that during a period of mental illness and alcoholism, “the Dr Who obsession was the only thing that kept me going”.
But having found religion, he is putting the collection up for sale in local trade papers and on eBay. He said, “God delivered me from the evil that is Dr Who, materialism and alcoholism.”
It’s currently not clear whether Mr White will be keeping the profits from the sale, or donating them to a worthy cause.
Natasha & Daniel Bedingfield eBay sale
March 20, 2008
Natasha and Daniel Bedingfield are possibly the most famous pop duo that have never performed publicly together, but they have now. The siblings have recorded a video for their eBay listings, and they will co-write a personalised ode dedicated to the winning bidder of one of the auctions.
With five auctions ranging from the personally written and recorded song by Natasha and Daniel, to their clothes… a cute soul hat and rather tasteful dress from Natasha, and not quite so tasteful pair of “lucky Calvin Klein” boxer shorts donated by Daniel, which are described as “Worn, slightly faded & washed!”. If you reckon you’ve got the voice there’s also a private singing lesson with Daniel in London up for grabs.
All the auctions are to raise money for the Global Angels charity, founded by their mother, Molly Bedingfield.
Pratchett’s Luggage auctioned for Alzheimer’s research
March 16, 2008
Fans of Terry Pratchet have the opportunity to bid on a unique bit of memorabilia this week, and to help a very good cause at the same time. Up for auction on eBay UK is a one-off replica of the Luggage, filled with a complete library of Pratchett’s books, signed by the author, the production designs for the Luggage as seen in Sky One’s adaption of The Colour of Magic, and a copy of the 25th anniversary edition of TCoM, signed by the stars of the TV adaption, Sir David Jason and Sean Astin.
The auction is in aid of the Alzheimer’s Research Trust. Pterry was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s last year, and has recently announced that he has donated £500,000 towards Alzheimer’s research. Fans have started a ‘Match It for Pratchett’ campaign, to encourage 500,000 readers to donate £1 each to match Pterry’s donation.
This is a cause very close to my family’s heart, so I hope no one minds me pimping it here.
